Chairperson of the Expert Advisory Committee of Beijing Geely University
Chen Naifang, born in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province in 1940, graduated from the English Department of Beijing Foreign Studies University (formerly Beijing Institute of Foreign Languages) in 1964. Senior Professor and honoured recipient of the State Council’s Special Stipend, she was formerly President of the Beijing Foreign Studies University (1996-2005). She is a member of the 9th and 10th National Committee for Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), a member of Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPPCC, a member of the Standing Committee of China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), Vice President of the Organizational Committee of the International Forum for Women Presidents, Chief Editor of the core magazine International Forum. She has also been the Director of the Editing Board of the prestigious Foreign Language Teaching and Research magazine. Professor Chen Naifang is currently a member of the Beijing Geely University Board.
In the early 80’s of the 20th Century, Professor Chen Naifang was a Senior Visiting Scholar sent by the Chinese government in the University of Massachusetts, USA. In the 90’s she was the Education Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Belgium and Chinese Commission to the European Union. In 2001, she was awarded the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Education by HRH the Thai Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, and an Honorary Doctorate in Law by HRH Princess Alexandra, Chancellor of Lancaster University, UK. In 2004, she was nominated as the Top Ten Eminent Masters in Education in China. |
